The eight days tour comprise several mind-blowing destinations including the expanse of Maharashtra on Mumbai-Konkan-Goa-Pune-Aurangabad route, returning to Mumbai via Nasik. All these destination offer tourists an outstanding opportunity to enjoy some of India's most spellbinding surroundings.
Day 01 : Mumbai
Your most memorable tour will start from Mumbai, a city of dreams. Mumbai was an agglomeration of seven islands, about 300 years ago. Mumbai is a fine amalgam of modernity and antiquity, which is very evidently seen in its surroundings. Board the train in the evening at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, one of Mumbai¹s most famous gothic structure. As you start your dinner on board, the train in pure opulence chugs out from the station.
Day 02 : Jaigad - Ganapatipule - Ratnagiri - Bhatye
Arrive at Ukshi station and enjoy a short ride to Rai jetty. Ride through the soothing backwaters, accompanied by the exotic birds, to historical Jaigad Fort, high on a cliffside overlooking the ocean. Also take in insight into the Konkan village life, unaccessible by road. A drive to Ganapatipule would be very interesting. After arrival feast on a well spread out regional Konkani cuisine and then spend some time with local people. Visit the holy temple shrine dedicated to Lord Ganesh and walk along the beach amidst the swaying palms. Move towards Ratnagiri by air-conditioned coach. This was the internment home of the last king of Burma. Visit Lokmanya Tilak Smarak, Ratnagiri Fort followed by a swim off Bhatye beach. Departure in the evening and proceed for the next destination.
Day
03 : Sindhuburg - Tarkali - Sawantwadi Travel to the tip of the Konkan coast arriving at Sudhuburg Nagari station. Travel to Sundhuburg Fort by boat. On arrival walk the two-mile long embankments with views of the wide open sea. Head to Tarkali beach by a luxury coach, a virgin beach at the meeting of the River Karli. Enjoy a RMalvani¹ lunch at MTDC Beach resort. Take a ferry ride up the Tarkali Creek moving on to Sawantwadi by coach, the gateway to Goa and home to the Chitar Ali and Jagannathrao Bhosale Garden. You may also visit Shilpa Gram village to see the local craftsmen go about their work. After the trip board the train in the evening. A traditional meal on board the train during the evening as you move towards Goa.
Day 04 : Goa
In the morning arrive at Goa, the land of India¹s finest beaches, jungle clad hills and ancient architecture. Walk through the ruins of Old Goa visiting the Basilica of Bom Jesus, the Cathedral and the Church of St. Francis of Assissi, now an archaeological museum and see some most exceptional architecture of the ancient Goa. Head to Priol, home to one of the Mangeshi Temples. An entertaining boat cruise down the Mandovi river allows you to enjoy the Goan delicacies. Visit Fontanhas, the Latin quarter of Panjim, Goa¹s capital, followed by Dona Paula, a small palm fringed beach. In the evening drive back to the station for wining and dining on board the royal Deccan Odyssey.
Day 05 : Pune
Arrive early in the morning at Pune, former capital of the Marathas and home to poets, writers and artists. After breakfast the first stop is Phule Mandia, the old central market. Then we visit Rajar Kelkar museum, a building in Rajasthani-style with some exceptional artifacts dating from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Next is the Iyengar Yoga Institute, famous through out the world. After lunch at the Taj Blue Diamond we drive to the Osho Ashram commune, centralised on meditation. Our next destination is the tribal museum and the David synagogue, a place worth visiting. Board a luxury coach to visit the Aga Khan Palace, a historical monument where Gandhi and his wife were imprisoned. In the evening comes the light and sound show at the Shaniwarwada Palace. A sumptuous meal is served on board the train prior to departure for Aurangabad.
Day
06 : Aurangabad Breakfast on the train. After the breakfast board a luxury coach to visit the fortress of Daulatabad. Our next station is the world famous Ellora Caves, a world heritage site consisting of a series of Hindu, Jain and Buddhist caves originating from the 7th to the 14th centuries. Return to Aurangabad for lunch before visiting the Shivaji museum followed by the Aurangabad Caves and the Bibi-Ka-Maqbara, a replica of the Taj Mahal. Back to station to board the train for our next destination. The evening meal on board.
Day 07 : Ajanta - Nashik
After breakfast arrive at Jalgaon station for a visit to the Ajanta Caves, which date from the 3rd to the 7th centuries. The caves are home to some of the finest Buddhist murals and sculptures ever found. We drive back to Jalgaon station to board the train for Nashik where we depart for the Sula winery at Govardhan park visiting the vineyards, falling on the way. Wine and dine in the comfortable surroundings of the train as the sun touches the western horizon before heading back to Nashik Road station to board the train to Mumbai.
Day 08 : Mumbai
Breakfast on board as we reach Mumbai, India¹s commercial capital. Arrive at Chhatrapati Shivaji Rail Terminus as the tour reaches its completion.
